Cash flow projections in Embat allow you to anticipate future cash flows and improve financial planning. Below, we explain step by step how to create a projection.
1. Access the Cash Flow module
Go to the Cash Flow section in Embat. On this screen, you can view existing projections and create new ones based on your needs.
2. Create a new projection
- Open the projection dropdown at the top of the screen.
- Click on "Create Projection".
- Fill in the details in the pop-up window:
- Name: Give a title to your projection.
- Frequency: Set the recurrence (monthly, quarterly, etc.).
- Number of periods: Define how many periods you want to project.
- Currency: Choose the currency in which the cash flows will be displayed.
Note: In Embat, projections are rolling, meaning that when a period becomes historical, the next one is automatically added to the projection.
3. Select the calculation method for each category
- Open the side panel of the category you want to edit.
- Select the desired calculation method:
- Forecasts: Based on forecasts created or imported from the Forecasts module.
- Historical data: Calculated based on past transactions.
- Custom: Manually enter values for each cell.
For more details about each method and when to use them, see the article: Cash flow calculation methods.
4. Visualize the projection
Once configured, you’ll be able to start visualizing projected cash flows. You can modify the parameters at any time as needed.
